Donovan Blackwood, former member of Heatwave, performs some of the greatest Soul classics from yesteryear, including Lovely Day, Never Too Much, All Night Long, Ladies Night and Septembe, as well as his former UK soul number one, Never Gonna Let You Go.
Donovan is an award-winning vocalist and actor that has performed all over the world. He’s been on stage at some major venues including The Apollo Theatre in New York, O2 Arena, Wembley Arena and The Hideaway. He has performed as far east as St Petersburg, as far west as Los Angeles, with quite a few stops in between!
He was a former member of the band Heatwave and has performed at the Happy Days and Reload festivals and has done backing vocals for Cher for her Christmas album, as well as Tina Turner, Lionel Richie, James Morrison and Enrique Iglesias. But it was as a solo artist that he achieved a UK soul number one with the song Never Gonna Let You Go and won Best Male Artist at the Bright Star Awards.
He has supported The Real Thing, Hot Chocolate and Shalamar. As an actor he has made numerous appearances in TV – including Top Coppers, King Gary and The Windsors - and theatre – including The Amen Corner and Sister Act - culminating with an award for Best Comedy Performance for Top Coppers at the MVISA Awards. He has released the album This Time and EP Break My Back and both are available for download on Bandcamp. He is currently also working on a new material.
