NEW gastro dining menus: Elevated flavours and signature dishes
24th January 2025
Calling all food lovers! This month, our gastro dining restaurants, The Travelling Duke at Heythrop Park and The Cheshire Barn at Alvaston Hall, are unveiling an exclusive new menu. Carefully crafted and rigorously taste-tested by our talented chefs, there’s new additions to the dinner menu that are set to bring to your table elevated flavours and an even more unforgettable dining experience. So whether you're staying at our Cotswolds haven or Cheshire country house, your taste buds are in for a treat!
More choice than ever
Dining at The Travelling Duke and The Cheshire Barn is included with your stay, offering classic pub dishes for breakfast and dinner in relaxed and welcoming surroundings. And with the exciting launch of their NEW signature dishes you’ll have even more choice, with an exclusive selection of specials on the evening menu that taste sensational and are yours to savour, for a small supplement.
Savour some new starters
Begin your meal with one of our delightful signature special starters:
- Crab rarebit crumpet: A classic favourite with a taste of the sea. This dish combines the winning combination of creamy goodness of cheese and decadent crab, served on a toasted crumpet, perfectly paired with avocado pâté and fresh apple for a burst of flavour.
- Whole baked Camembert for two: Indulgence at its finest. Enjoy gooey camembert topped with chopped pistachios and a drizzle of honey, served with Prosciutto ham, chutney, olives and toasted ciabatta—a sharing dish that’s as delicious as it is memorable.
A main course worth writing home about
For the main event, let the rich flavours of our new signature dish take centre stage:
- Slow braised beef on the bone: Melt-in-the-mouth tender beef served alongside loaded fries, topped with cheese, bacon, and crispy onions, plus beer-battered onion rings, and a zingy chimichurri sauce.
Nick Butler, one of our talented development chefs at Warner Hotels, shares that this is one of his personal favourites:
“They all taste amazing, but the beef rib is one of my favourite dishes from the new signature menu. Paired with the loaded fries and chimichurri, it’s a dish that’s guaranteed to wow, and it’s simply delicious!”
"We've sourced the finest ingredients and had a lot of fun developing these dishes, and I'm thrilled to see guests able to enjoy them."
- Nick Butler, Development Chef at Warner Hotels
Unforgettable desserts to top your evening
No meal is complete without dessert, and our chefs have truly outdone themselves with these signature sundaes. Both flavours feature a little tipple of some of your well-loved after dinner drinks, even more perfect when served alongside your favourite nightcap.
- Cherry chocolate sundae: Fruity and fun, featuring sour cherry compote, roasted hazelnuts, and finished off with a decadent Baileys white chocolate sauce over layers of chocolate and vanilla ice cream.
- Sticky toffee sundae: A warm and indulgent treat with whisky salted caramel sauce, vanilla ice cream, banana chips, and whipped cream.
And that’s not all!
Our main dessert menu has also been refreshed with irresistible new options, no supplement required:
- Brûléed Basque cheesecake: Creamy, caramelised perfection, served with blackberry and cherry compote, almond brittle and chocolate sauce.
- Chocolate and raspberry tart: A rich and tangy chocolate lover’s dream, topped with crushed hazelnuts and a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
- Toffee apple and cinnamon crumble: A cosy dessert served with hot custard to warm you up this winter.
